How do you keepa cat from scratching a wound/scrape on his neck? A collar won't work.?

He's scratched off the hair and made a raw spot. He was scratched by another cat while he was wearing a flea collar. The vet wants cash up front, so I need to find out what I can treat him with that will stop him from scratching the scab off.
Answers:
Put empty smartie tubes on all his legs, he won't be able to scratch then. He will also entertain you by walking like a robot.
Our cat had the same problem. Tried the plastic bucket thing that the vet gave us but was cr@p. Eventually my girlfriend put a pair of her pants on the cat and secured them with a safety pin. Also very amusing to look at and didn't restrict the cat's mobility
Use the funnel shaped object that is typically used to keep them from licking wounds.
There are nail covers that you can purchase. It will not hurt the cat or put him/her in an uncomfortable situation. Check out Dr. Fosters %26 Smith catalog/website they have everything for all types of animals. They also sell medications it ease the itch. Good Luck.
try putting Lil booties on the cat may have to tie them on.but at least it cant scratch its self or clip its nails.
try putting mittens on his paws. you will have to tie them on but it should work if he is a house cat. Check with the vet or pet smart.
Wrap the foot on that side with self adhesive wrap such as vet wrap. It will hinder his ability to scratch.
