How do you give a cat a bath without getting hurt.?

Answers:
There is no need to immerse kitty in water. Try this towel method.

Get together two bath towels and prepare to keep one dry until kitty's bath is over.

Prepare the other by completely soaking in warmish soapy water (like the temp for a human baby or cooler).

Get kitty and yourself confined in an area like the bathroom then take the large wet soapy towel and grasp kitty - the weight of the towel will give you a tool of control so be prepared to use it gently.

Rub kitty thoroughly with the sloshy towel then let him go. Rinse the towel and rub kitty thoroughly again to remove soap. I suppose you could prepare a 3rd towel in advance to use for the rinse.

Once you're done use the dry towel to cuddle kitty to dryness.

Most veteran cat owners agree there is little need for a dunking or even a towel bath. Some overweight, elderly, sickly, newly found/lost kittens, etc. do need help sometimes.

Best wishes,

pup
use gloves.
washing machine
where thick rubber gloves!
u can't they hate water. They never get used to it, trust me.
lie up the cats legs
you don't. cats clean themselves on their own. that's why their tongues have all those things on them. They have a delicate balance of nautral oils to keep their coat properly themselves. you don't want to interfer with that unless they got skunked or something
My cat doesn't try to hurt me. If you wait until the cat is 3 years old before you try, it probably won't be pleasant. I started early, so that they would be used to the process. Get them declawed too.
I have five cats. I keep them indoors.

I NEVER have to bathe them; they keep themselves quite clean.
you don't just comb it and use a not so wet towel or tissue
very carefully
be very careful and try not to scare him
usually what i do is fill the tub up with only 1inch of warm water add a little bit of the cat soap and then put kitty in.never put kitty in while the water is running this freaks them out.have a cup ready for rinsing, a washcloth for the face and ears, a dry towel nearby and one on the floor, and the cat soap.lather up the back and use the washcloth to get the other areas including butt and tummy the paws will automatically get clean in the semi soapy water then rinse and dry but the trick is moving quickly and blocking them from getting out of the tub .good luck you can do it
get someone else to do it

but for real they have powder %26 sprays now to make it easy
you need 2 buckets- one with soapy water and the other with clean water. Take the cat by the scruff and kinda dunk it in the soapy water. Scrub if you can without being killed. Then take the cat and dunk it in the clean water to rinse. To dry: DO NOT use a hairdryer! Use towels or just let it run around the house until dry.

I know it sounds somewhat cruel but it works.
Good question. Some cats will behave while they're being bathed and others will go crazy. With the ones that go crazy, it's best to have two people bathing them.

It's easier if you have a removable showerhead. One person should put the cat in the tub and let it rest its front paws and head on the side of the tub. Keep a firm hold on the cats two front legs (don't let them move from the tub) and talk softly to the cat, sometimes carressing its head with your face. The other person should get the showerhead down, wet down the cat, massage in the shampoo and then rinse it. After that, make sure the bathroom floor has plenty of towels put down, let the cat jump out and then wrap him/her up in a towel.

The alternate way is to get some bathwipes or some waterless cat shampoo. They resist being rubbed down that way but won't get as crazy. Good luck to you!
Here's a web site with good advice (I didn't want to paste it here because it is a long article).

I've bathed mine before. It can be done.

But, for humor's purpose%26lt; I'll answer: DRYCLEAN ONLY ha, ha, ha
Small wash towel soaked in warm water and a comb.
Stay away from large open water sources (tub/sink).
Thick Gloves! Watch out for those claws..

I would just use water though, if you use a shampoo or anything like that, she'd lick it afterward and get sick.
well I know alot about this one because i tryed this not that long ago. 1st of all i wouldn't do this unless neccesary, cuz they hate it! but if u do giv ur cat a bath get an old window screen and put it in the tub, that way the cat will claw it instead of you. also a good alternative are pet bath wipes. Hope this helped!
You can try to put soft claws on you cat. Soft claws are made of rubber so it wont hurt the cat or you.
Nothing is totally fool proof, but hopefully this will help.
First you need to make sure that you kitten is at least eight weeks old. Use a shampoo that is made for kittens, you can this at any pet store or the pet aisle in larger chains. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TRIMMED your kittens nails. I recommend placing a towel under your kitten in the tub to kept him/her from slipping around as well as it's nails will get caught in there first not you. Gently but firmly hold the kittens by the back on the neck. If you have someone to help you even better, if not you will be OK. Wet your kitten with warm water, be careful not to get the water in its eyes or ears . Turn the water off, lather up the kitten with shampoo, rinse thoroughly. dry with a towel
good luck
you don't.. Cats clean themselves!!
You probably shouldn't give your cat a bath but if you must you should wear rubber gloves or there's always declawing. Keep your face away and keep the cat warm after wards.
My cousin Kellie had a foolproof way to give her cat Dusty a bath. She would take Dusty outside, set him under a plastic milk crate, set a big rock on top of it, and turn the hose on him. One time, her rock disappeared, so she had me sit on top of the crate. I was about 7 at the time. My butt looked like a pincushion by the time Dusty got done clawing it.
OK i bath my indoor cats about every 2 months. what i do is fold a towel up on the tub floor so their back feet don't slide, and they can grip it with their claws. i have every thing ready and bring them in one at a time. i have their front paws in my left hand with them squeezed gently so i don't hurt them ,but firmly enough so they don't pull out. i have the cat stand on her hind paws while i bathe her with my right hand. whisper softly in his/her ear and occasionally pet her/him,scratch or rub areas they really enjoy being scratched or rubbed in. i can bath all 3 of our cats, including drying and brushing in about 45 minutes. they still don't like it much but they don't try fighting anymore. one actually enjoys it because it is one of the few times i am able to give her my full attention.

obviously if you are left handed use your right hand to hold their front paws while bathing with your left
Why are you wanting to bathe the cat? If it is for fleas or other parasites there are better ways that are safer and more effective. Talk to your vet. Good luck.
