Here's a cool trick: Put some tape sticky side up on the counter. When your cat jumps up it will get the tape stuck to its paws, and immediately jump down. It wont hurt the cat, but cats hate it and it doesn't take too many times of this happening before they stop jumping up there. Alternately, you can keep a spray bottle with water handy and squirt the cat when it jumps up. The problem with this method is that you have to witness the act and be quick on the draw.

I always keep a squirt bottle of water around to use on my cats when they jump up where they shouldn't. Funny thing is, I never have to use it anymore because they got the message :) .
to train cats not to jump on counters other table tops, get a spray bottle, and fill it with water and keep it available.
next time u see yur cat jumpin on sumthing he shouldnt be, spray at him or in the face. it wont hurtthem, just trains them. yur cat will learn in time.
When a simple, stern "NO!" doesn't work, it's time to step up to a spray bottle filled with water. Next time puss jumps up, again say "NO" then give a little squirt of water. They hate it. They learn very quickly! Only place it doesn't work is the computer.I'm still trying to figure that one out myself!
Put down some cornmeal on the counter top. They don't like the feel of the little granules on their paws and it can get in between the toes. Also a water bottle works beautifully too. And it's quite amusing when they try to run from the water.

The squirts of water only work while you are in the room. The powder on the counter works but, do you want the mess? What is the problem with the cats on the counter?
Let him play. What else does a cat have to do? But if you're trying to work, just put him or her on your lap. They'll appreciate it. Milo does.
Keep the cat out of your house
mine does that,i bought motion sensors that squirt water from a television offer it works great.if you cant find that then get a good squirt gun and sit back from a distance and spray him when he does that.
