How do you get rid of a stray cat?

The neighborhood stray cat has marked my front yard and now my entrance smells like cat piss? What can I do to get rid of the smell and make the cat go elsewhere?
Answers:
Hi Dee.Common odours that are effective deterrents for cats are:

Citronella works best for cats as well as citrus scents such as orange or lemon (primarily towards cats), cayenne pepper, coffee grounds, pipe tobacco, lavender oil, lemon grass oil, citronella oil, peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, and mustard oil.

"Havahart's Cat Repellent" uses capsaicin pepper and oil of mustard as its active ingredients. It repels by both taste and odor, has a lemon scent.

Every animal responds differently to each of these. Some will not be phased by them and others will be quite revolting.

For training purposes they are applied on items that are to encourage avoidance behaviours and not for use with a squirt bottle as they could harm the eyes or respiratory system. Test each substance and observe to see which works as a deterrent so that accidental injestion does not occur as some could then be fatal.

Coleus plants can be effective, but every cat responds differently so it is uncertain without experimenting.

MOTHBALLS are toxic to cats which contains the ingredient Naphthalene. Mothballs are approximately twice as toxic as paradichlorobenzene, and cats are especially sensitive to naphthalene. Signs of ingestion of naphthalene mothballs include emesis, weakness, lethargy, brown-colored mucous membranes and collapses. Paradichlorobenzene mothballs may cause GI upset, ataxia, disorientation, and depression. Elevations in liver serum biochemical values may occur within 72 hours of indigestion.

To neutralize the cat urine odour consider using Nature's Miracle (available worldwide at any pet store). It's an enzymatic neutralizer which lifts the urine odours by thoroughly soaking the affected area to let air dry. Repeated applications may be necessary depending on how heavily soiled the area is.

Here's a photo to help you recognize the product on the store shelves: http://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/images/.
Use Urine Gone. You can buy it in the pet stores. Put some yummy treat on your porch and call animal control. They can catch the cat while it enjoys the treat.
I have been feeding a stray/feral cat for 8 years. I love cats and would never want it to go away.
baking soda will get ride of it jsut go over to them and ask themto please keep there cat in there own yard
If it's friendly take it to the Humane Society so it can find a nice home. But if it's not friendly take it to the pound to be put down.
Use water and soap. That is what my sisters neighbors do when their dog goes to the bathroom and my sister complains because it makes her house stink plus she has kids. Well anyways try scrubbing it. And if you try to feed the cat and call animal control to come get the cat it will have somewhere to be and have food and shelter. Better than it living on the streets and marking your front yard.
Call your local animal control, they'll pick up the cat so it can be put up for adoption.

If the area that was marked is cement or some other building material try putting some cat pee spray on it. That usual gets rid of the odors
through something at it!
Animal shelters rent traps. Catch it and take it back to the shelter. There is a small fee, but it might be worth it.
Natures Miracle
Urine Off
Urine Gone
Fabrese
Are all great for removing smells
Dont that is mean have him as a Pet Cat!
CALL ANIMAL CONTROL

OR GET A NINE AND SHOOT THAT CAT
AND IT WILL BE PHAT AND IT WILL TURN OUT FINE!
you can buy charcol and place it in the yard %26 it helps absorb odors.

I would feed it %26 love it forever too.

but you could also carry it to a no kill shelter.
Squirt the cat with a garden hose or a Super Soaker water gun.
for the urine smell, you might have to buy a commercial product for that.or do a search on google.there are some good home rememdies.i don't know any off-hand.to get rid of a stray cat, check your local city/county for a cat coalition. p.a.w.s., call the humane society, etc. cat coalitons will come out for free and trap the cat, neuter it and try to find it a home. good luck.
Dont Get Rid Of The Cat. Could Be A Good Pet.
If you can remove the soil where the cat urinated then do so. Either dig it up or dilute it by spraying it with water.

Cats don't like mothballs or citrus. If you live near a zoo, you could ask for some lion poop and put it by your door - seriously.

If all else fails call the Humane Society.
My husband and I did this once and maybe you can do the same. We had two cats that would not leave our yard or cars alone. He has a truck with a tool box on the back. So I had the great idea of putting a can of tuna fish in the tool box, for him to sit in the truck with a rope attached to the tool box and shut it when the cats get in it. It worked and we ended up taking them off behind a restaurant. You could set up a trap and have tuna in it to catch them. Or this ALWAYS works I have been told. Get some really spicy red pepper seasoning and sprinkle in your yard. It really messes with the animal, won't hurt them, and you have gotten rid of the problem.
You tell Brian Setzer that he is the worst guitar player of all time and he will leave in no time.
use a pet odor remover form the pet store.. and also use things from the pet store thats supposed to keep cats off furniture maybe that will work
call the aspca or the humane society and use URINE GONE its great
I am a cat lover but also a firm believer that pet cats should be strictly indoor animals. Feral cats are a terrible burden on native bird, amphibian, and reptile species. If it is not friendly enough to become your pet or if you just are not a cat person( don't feel quilty if you're not),or you don't have a good local animal control department to call, start spraying the area with a mix of white vinager and water. Spray the offending cat as well. This will not hurt it. It will neutralize the odors, and repel the cat. Keep it up even when you don't see the cat. So your porch smells like pickles for a few days, better than tomcat piss. Cats kept indoors live longer healthier lives, don't bring in fleas, have fewer vet bills, and don't cause problems for your neighbors. They get used to it after a while. Believe me. I have had cats for over 25 years and all of them origionally showed up on the porch as a strays. Get them vetted before bringing them in if you think you can give them a home. If they are severely ill have them put down. If healthy, have them spayed or nuetered at the earliest time possible, get all thier shots and never let them out again. The local ASPCA will help. I love cats but I love wildlife also. Cats are not part of the native ecco system any more than roaming dogs(or humans for that matter). Let's try to reduce our negative presence by keeping our domestic animals under control.
shoot the damd thing
Scrub the area with something strong smelling like bleach water. Then spread something like bitter apple or cedar chips around the area.
Lastly I would let my neighbor know that his cat is being a nuisance, maybe call the local humane society to find out what the local laws are about letting your pet run free?
Good Luck.
Simple, take it to the Dumb Friends League.
