How do you get your cats to stop?

crapping in your bedroom? we lock them out all night and as soon as we open the door in the morning they run in there and crap all over the rug, its like they save it up all night, just for us.
Answers:
A simple trial of the cat litter you are using could help identify the issue.
First get a though check up to identify any possible medical causes.
Second get several pans and place various types of litter in different pans.
I.E, Clay( traditional cat litter) in one
paper litter in another
grass in another
pine chips in another
And try carpet in one

This test will help you determine teh tactile preference for your cat for using the litter box.
if your cats prefer the carpet you can use this in their litter box and purchase scrap peices of carpet to use in their litter box.
Put a litter box there. See if they just go for the location, or just to cheeze you off.
You need to litter box train them , then they wont do that.
have you tried training spray to keep them off of certain areas?. try talking to the vet or an obedience trainer at petsmart they could possibly help. also you might want to get rid of the rug

changed the litter lately?
If they are litterbox trained, do put a box where they usually go.
If they still do not it may mean there is a problem with their health..cats sometimes go in a softer place when they have irritation (urine infections..and so on.)
I agree, they aren't trained. Put the litterbox over the spot where they are going, and see if they go in the box. If they don't, then you have a problem. They can still smell the place on the rug, and as long as they smell it, they will continue to go to the bathroom there. Try Nature's Miracle (they have a cat formula) and soak the rug good and leave it to dry. Good Luck!
that sucks!!
rifle
Purchase a deepfryer.
Cut their heads off
Try putting moth balls or moth crystals down on the rug they poop on..,if you can stand the smell..,it works great.
cut their legs of so they cant move to go into your bedroom
sucks to be you

:(
I recently have had problems with my cat using the spare bedroom as his carpet potty.
Yes, he is Litter trained, but I notice when I reprimand him for something, or don't pay attention to him enough, he does it to get my attention.
It might be that the cats want your attention all night and feel that they are being neglected when you lock them out, especially if they are used to being in your room during the day. They might think that if they mark the territory, it will make it theirs when they can't be in there.
Maybe let them in during the night and see what happens. They may bother you, but maybe keep a spray bottle by the bed to keep them from jumping on you etc.
First make sure you are keeping up with their existing litter boxes, it could be that your cats are just trying to tell you that it needs to be cleaned. Then remove and or thoroughly clean that rug, clean the floor under it too and put a litter box where the cats are going in your room. If that doesn't work talk to your vet your cats may have a health problem. Or they could simply be mad at you for locking them out of your room at night.
Do NOT use mothballs anywhere accessable to cats as they are poisonous. All cats are litterbox trained at 3 weeks of age unless raised exclusively outdoors, so this is ALSO NOT the problem. Sheesh!

Take the cats to a COMPETENT CAT vet. This is your cats' way of getting your attention BECAUSE you've ignored all their subtler communication telling you they are in distress. It finally worked didn't it?! Please STOP ignoring their suffering.

You've apparently let it go on so long you may need the help of an animal behaviorist to suppress the unwanted behavior AFTER you fix the physical illness triggering it. If you can find a COMPETENT CAT VET, they can refer you to a good animal behaviorist to work with you.

You will likely need to remove the bedroom rug and chuck it. The floor beneath likely has a litterbox odor and you will need to soak it in enzymatic cleaner repeatedly.

Be certain that your vet runs a full health check: that's a physical exam with urinalysis and bloodwork. Your cats have been suffering WORSE than you and it's time to get them relief. A good vet will prescribe an antibiotic even if the tests are negative as a low-level infection does not always register on the tests.
1st get a carpet shampooer and run it with Natures Miracle over ur rug. let dry. thatll get all the smell out in case u didnt catch a few spots they went to. then try a "no-go" product for cats spray all over. this may sound odd but we had a problem w the cats doing that in our living room because they refused to share a litter box. we put oranges (cut in half) where they were going n they stopped.cats HATE citrus. we did also get a few litterboxes. they may be doing it out of spite tho because they want to be with you at night. try letting them in one night and see if its better. i know it sucks cuz i hated my cats sleeping w me but maybe theyll be happy just being in there w you and wont have to sleep on the bed!!
Once an animal has soiled the carpet it is next to impossible to get the smell out. They are going for the smell. I agree with the others who say to put the litter box over the spot. There are some products on the market that get rid of the smell but if you don't get the smell out of the carpet padding it will always be there. To begin training your cat, put them in the litter box and take their paw and drag their paw through it to give them a hint so they know what to do. If they go on the floor again, pick up the pile, put it in the littler box, put the cat in the litter box and directing their paw, scrap the litter over the pile.

The only real way to get them to stop is to pull up the carpet, remove the padding, sanitize the floor, put down new padding then stretch the carpet back over the spot.
Put the litter box in the bedroom, right in the spot where they go, then every day move it an inch or so towards where you want it to be, eventually they will get the idea and go in the box only. Another consideration is obviously they dont like where thier box currently is, try finding a more secluded, low traffic area where they will have privacy and if you have hooded boxes try removing the tops. Also make sure to clean the rug extremely well to get all traces of cat scent out of it and try putting lemon scented air fresheners around it, another thing I found works well is to spray really strong scented perfume on the spot, it tends to discourage them. Hope this helps!

Ps here is a really good booklet online that has great advice and may help you determine the cause of the cats litter box problem, I dont think you have to use the litter they suggest but the advice is really good!! http://www.preciouscat.com/solutionsbook.
