how long does a avrage cat live?

Answers:
The average domestic cat lives appx. 14-20 yrs, with variances in either direction based on health, nutrition, and living conditions (indoor, outdoor, or indoor-outdoor). Obviously, the longer living cats are indoor cats that are given excellent veterinary care, are free of disease and viruses, have not undergone unneccesary surgeries (including declawing), sexual status (neutered/spayed animals live longer due to decreased risk of disease/cancer), excellent food, and obviously there are no predators or cars to dodge. Outdoor cats are succeptable to cars, predatory animals (such as stray/feral dogs, larger mammals, and some birds), human torture, other cats (fights, disease, etc.), as well as they usually don't get the proper veterinary care and food as they should. Indoor-outdoor cats have about the same mortality rate as outdoor cats. The best way to have a long-living, healthy, and happy cat is to keep him/her indoors, feed them the best food you can afford, take them to the best vet you can afford for annual vaccination/exams, and neuter/spay for a happier household!
heard some live up to 15 years or close to 20.
The average life expectancy of a cat is 15-20 years although some cats live well into their 20s these days.
For an indoor cat, the average lifespan is about 12-14 yrs..of course this can be subjective..my neighbours old cat lived up till the age of 20!

I am sure their diet plays a part too..

:-)
Indoor - 14
Outdoor Feral - 7

Mine have had all lifespans of 14-18 years.
as long as you want the cat to live..
Mine lived 17 years.
Usually about 15 years (if it is an indoor cat), but I had a cat that lived to be 19.
The averages have already been answered but my Ashley lived for 23 yrs. The last few were touch and go for a while but she never missed the litter box. She stopped eating near the end but she was a great friend. She is missed.
To long :(
