how long do cats stay in heat???

my cat caly is in heat...
Answers:
Well . . . cats are what is called "seasonally polyestrus." That means that, during certain times of the year, cats come into heat . . . if the female is not bred, she will come back into heat every couple of weeks until she has mated. The reason they do this is that, until they mate with a male, they don't release the eggs from their ovaries (they are "induced ovulators) . . . so, the body wants to get rid of those pesky eggs and keeps bringing the kitty back into heat. The seasons that the cats are usually in heat are from early spring through late fall . . . they typically take the winter off :^) In the South, kitties start cycling sometime around Feb. or Mar. and continue until around Sept. or Oct. Always remember that some kitties don't read those crazy reproduction text books and will cycle in the "off season," too.

The best way to eliminate this problem is to have your kitty spayed . . . that is unless you enjoy the screaming, rolling kitty at 2 in the morning. You will do more than restore your sleeping schedule, too. You will decrease the chance that your kitty will get breast cancer, eliminate the possiblity of uterine and ovarian cancers as well as life-threatening uterine infections called "pyometra."

Good luck with your kitty.
About 1-2 months.
That's why you should always get it spayed or neutered. It's for the betterment of animalkind in general and makes it so there's less abandoned animals out there.
About 1 to 2 months tops. Please get your cat spaded! It would help her out. She would be in less pain and she would be sooooooooo much healther!
