how do u get rid of cat dander on the cat, without vet medication?

Answers:
Hi there.here's some websites with suggestions of how to control pet dander and some products to use:

Primarily, brushing and using Allerpet wipes or bathing regularly is the best way to lower cat dander. Most over the counter anti-histamines also work in controlling allergies to pets: Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, Singulair, Benadryl and others. Each one works better than another depending on the individual. Therefore consider experimenting to see which works best.
A dander-ruff shampoo.
When my daughter asked the vet about her cat's dander, he just said to get a damp cloth and wipe it off.
Special shampoo for dander should help?

you need to report blamurfen for his rude not called for answer.
brush the cat more often
cats get dander when bathed regularly, the best thing for them is to allow their own natural oil to be on their skin. I鈥檇 only bathe them if they stink, if that鈥檚 too nasty try only bathing it once every 2 months
Is your cat overweight, matted or older? Sometimes if they are unable to groom themselves then dandruff will appear.

A product called megaderm is also good source of omega 3 %26 6 essential fatty acids which aids in keeping the skin healthy.

There are specially formulated shampoos although keep in mind that too frequent washing can strip the coat of its natural oils.
You can't really "get rid" of it. Not completely. You can reduce it through bathing (no special shampoos needed), brushing, and with the use of special creams and wipes. Bathing is not recommended too often for cats, however, because it strips their skin of its natural oil and can dry it out badly.

Dander is caused by a cat cleaning itself. They have an agent in their saliva that dries on their skin and fur and turns into a fine powder (dander). So even cats without hair have dander. If someone in the house is allergic to it, there are shampoos and wipes that are supposed to help, but I think regular shampoos and wipes work just as well since all you're doing is wiping or washing away the dander on the skin and fur.
teach it to like showers. My roommate is alergic and he takes his 3 kittens in the shower with him. it washes away dander and he has no problems.
Actually, I don't know if vet medication works as well as home remedies in this case.

Brush the cat often, and finish by wiping him/her down with a damp cloth. Rub a little olive oil into your hands, and work it into the fur -- not too much!

Because cats lick themselves, it's not a good idea to put anything on them that they can't eat.

If worst comes to worst and you must give the cat a bath, try 1/2 cup of vinegar in a gallon of water for a rinse. It works on humans with too much "dander"!

You might see if kitty likes plain yogurt, too. And if you are feeding him/her with sugary snacks, STOP NOW.

Good luck!
The easiest way is thru diet. Cats shouldnt need a bath, ever, unless they get into something. The link I gave explains what to look for in a food.

Remember.if you eat awful, low grade food how your hair and skin reacts.a cat is the same way.
I read on a website that if u give ur cat a little fish oil in there food that, that helps out alot. One of my kitties has the same trouble. it said that their skin gets dry just like ours does. Adding some fish oil should do the trick.
GOOD LUCK!
My cat is a big, lazy girl (she cannot reach her back without pushing her front legs on the couch and reaching all the way around her back, and is too lazy to do that all the time). When she gets scruffy looking, I take a wet wash cloth and rub her back clean and then brush her really well to remove dander and excess fur. She's afraid of water, so this method works well for her. After that, she will usually try to clean herself even better.
baby shampoo.don't use head %26 shoulders or any shampoo that adults use cause it may make it worse.use baby shampoo it's easy on the skin and that's what dander is,dry skin.
Go to walmart and get cat shampoo and good conditioner. This should help.
