how do you train your cat to use the toilet?

i have heard you can train your cat to use the household toilet, and i would like to find out how to train him to do that.
Answers:
why would you wan't to? lol gl tho
i never heard that before sorry
Ask Mr. Focker.. he got his cat to do it.
step by step

there are some kits that you can buy.

First, it's better if you have a spare bathroom that you can use just for your cat.

You start by placing the litterbox on the floor in the bathroom.

Then a few days later, you put it on the toilet seat.

Then after a while, you put saran wrap on the toilet seat with a little litter on top.

then finally, you take the saran wrap off
hmm mayB she dosent like the spot tri to put the tilete where she wee.etc
I think you have been watching "Meet the Fockers" a little bit too much!
YOU CAN NOT
i actually had an aunt that was able to do this..somehow you have to rig a liter box to fit into the toilet.once the cat has used the box in the toilet, you eventually remove the box..its pretty crazy.
I dont have any idea on how this can be done, but I wondered about this myself. That would be really interesting to see my kitty using the household toilet. I hope you find an answer. Good Luck.
I don't think that's possible, contrary to what you've heard.
Give him x-lax and hold him over it. Haha.just kidding.

I've read that too. I think it takes a lot of work and time..I've heard that you put a litter pan inside the toilet and eventually when they are used to using it there.you take it out or something like that.
There are kits out there that have a plastic form that fits over your toilet seat. You sprinkle a little bit of litter and catnip in it. Bit, by bit, they get used to it. Over a period of time you lessen the amount of littler and nip. One day you remove the "seat" and there you go.
Start moving (Very Slowly) the liter box closer and closer to the toilet every day until you've reached where the toilet is.Then, Start to Elevate the litter box using steps or books , ect.. Once the litterbox is directly next to the toilet and on the same level, start to remove the litter slowly each day until there is no litter left, then simply remove the litter box. The cat may miss a few times but will (hopefully) eventually get the hang of using the restroom in the toilet. Remember to reward your cat each time he/she does it.

Good luck! Remember it takes time, but it CAN be done!
put an appropriately big sized bowl in the toilet filled with cat litter, but not alot cuz you dont want it to sink. remove the old litter box. make sure your cat knows where the new litter is. this doesnt work all the time, but if the cat is smart enough it will use it.when it does you'll have to remove the cat from the bathroom before it starts to cover it's mess. do that for a few weeks and you are golden.actually bronze.you still have to flush the toilet.
start by slowly moving the litter box closer to the bathroom, closer to the toilet. When the cat gets used to that then you can place an insert under the lid of the toilet fill it with alitttle litter and show the cat. (you can buy these inserts a pet places) After a week or two of this the cat will go with out the pan. Remove the liter box altogether so the cat won't be confused
get one of the potty trays that fit on your toliet and leave it there. put your cat in it a couple of time and he will know where it is and start using it.. after a couple of weeks.take the litter out of it and put a little bit of water in the bottom. they will learn to not get there feet wet. then in a couple more weeks take the pan out and they will balance on the toliet seat to go in the pot all by themselves. I had my cat going on the toliet sure is better than dealing with the litter box and the smell
Though you probably can do it, you're better off with a regular litterbox. Aside from the messes your cat may make on the toilet seat or bathroom floor, this also poses a drowning risk.

Yes, your cat can drown in the toilet. Kittens and old cats are especially vulnerable. Even if they don't drown, they could get hurt if they fall in.

get a litter box small enough to fit on the toilet with the lids up. fill with litter and let him/her go like that for a couple months. take it out as a test and see if he goes in it the next time. if not try it for about 2 more weeks or so. some cats do learn and some wont. older cats i find harder to teach so hopefully hes 2 or under. good luck
I bought one of the rings from Citikitty. Unfortunately, I was trying to train both of my kitties..It worked for one but not the other. As soon as the litter box went back, the trained kitty started using it again :o) Good luck!
1.show the cat the toilet. 2.take the litter box away. 3.make the cat use the toilet.if that dosent work, make thae cat go in someones shoes.
You can find directions on how to do this and tips at kittygoespotty. Theres lots of funny photos and videos of cats on toilets there too.
